Freedom House a Beacon of Light

“…-I owe my life to [Freedom House]…realized if I just used my energy and my thoughts for helping someone like me and actually put in the work to make myself a better person on the daily I can accomplish anything…I don’t know where I would be without these beautiful people I’m privileged to call them my friends”

-Rene F.

I’m OK with being OK

“I’ve been in and out of trouble my entire life even when I was a kid. I always just thought I was a bad kid. I was so angry the judge sentenced me to the Freedom House, but now I am forever grateful. I’m way happier today than I’ve been in a very long time. I’m ok with being ok.”

-Travis F.

I was in jail facing prison time

“I heard about Freedom house when I was in jail facing prison time…I was facing a lot of fear coming to Freedom House. What I got in return, they restored my faith in my ability to stay sober and keep moving forward. Thanks to the Freedom House my whole life has changed.”

– Alex P.

I am now a productive member of society

“I was at the Women’s Freedom House for 8 months. It was definitely one of the best things that ever happened to me. Freedom House provided me with the tools to make better choices. Freedom House staff showed me compassion and empathy. I will forever owe a debt of gratitude to Freedom House and its staff. It’s because of them that I am now a productive member of society and active in recovery.”

– Erica M.

I didn’t know up from down

“A huge part of me getting to this point is because of Freedom House. When I first got sober I didn’t know up from down. I had a dependency on drugs and alcohol and didn’t know how to be a productive member of society, or do anything at all when it came to society. The only skills I had was doing what I had to do to make sure I had my next fix…I was unemployable, with no I.D, homeless and helpless. It was Freedom House, who piled us all in a van to get our I.D’s, an SS Card, take us to the welfare office, who set me up for success and walked by my side as I put one foot in front of the other, just like the people who work there did before me. I’m forever grateful for their people who don’t just ‘know’ where addiction can lead but have gone through my exact ‘experience’, they had been where I had been in some form or another, and completely changed their way of life, and now teach others to do the same”

My success stemmed from my experience at Freedom House

Stemmed…“Freedom House has provided me with a community of support which includes people who genuinely care and who I have established lifelong friendships with. The accountability and growth I have achieved with the help of Freedom House is irreplaceable… My success in recovery stemmed from my experience at Freedom House and all that I have learned from them and the assistance and guidance they have provided. I am forever grateful for my experience at Freedom House, which has been the foundation on which I have built my ‘new life’ around.”

Reclaimed my life

“In essence, Freedom House stands as the cornerstone upon which I have built my journey towards recovery. Their unwavering support, coupled with the guidance of
dedicated staff…has empowered me to reclaim my life and embrace a future filled with hope and possibility.”

– Christopher H.

Saved my life

“My Freedom House experience saved my life. When I finally let go of my old behavior and learned to trust the process my life has immensely changed for the better. Freedom House helped show me that if I did not stay connected, attend meetings, and get a sponsor. I was destined to fail. When life gets rough, going back out is NOT the answer. When life gets rough that is the time to dive in deeper into my recovery…Today…I have the life I’ve always dreamed of, a life in long term recovery.”

– Adam K.

A huge blessing

Freedom House has been a huge blessing in a time of need for me. I had relapsed and ended myself in a sticky situation, and I asked for help. I have been able to overcome so many obstacles while I was in treatment and after I graduated. They have treated me like family since day one, and have been there for me during every bump in the road and curveball that has come my way. Everything from groups to one on ones, and all the way to the women’s sober living house, was all a great experience and an amazing environment to learn and grow in. I learned so much during my time at Freedom House and was treated like I was worthy of another chance. I will always be grateful for everyone at Freedom House who has helped me along my way, and I know that they have helped me lay a solid foundation for my journey on the path of recovery.
